As decision-makers in organisations, we all need make assumptions about which scenario is most likely to play out in the future: will demand for our product or service shrink or grow in the next year? What supply disruptions might we face in the coming months? No simulation method can tell you which scenario is going to happen. But what drew me to system dynamics is that fact that it can help us better understand how a given scenario will affect our organisation, and how we can best respond to it. My goal with SD&Co is to help organisations make decisions based on a systems perspective that brings together many departments or teams onto one platform. By allowing these teams to simulate different future scenarios and strategies before they happen, organisations can prepare themselves for what's next and choose the most effective path forward. I graduated from the European Master in System Dynamics in 2015, and since then have worked as a freelance system dynamics consultant for NGOs, the Northern Irish government, and most recently with SD&Co for clients in the manufacturing industry. I'm interested in improving the financial modelling within the system dynamics community, giving a holistic picture of the financial implications of different decisions by showing their impact on the balance sheet, P&l and cash flow.
